Watercolor Class Starts

The first watercolor class met at Winding Way Watercolor Art Gallery last night. The painting above is by Holly Smith who is teaching the class which will last six weeks. There is a class next Thursday January 16 and then there will be a break until February 6th. The members of the class are a mixed group as some are beginners and some have had some lessons. All are welcome. Last night the students learned about the materials and techniques used in the watercolor medium. Holly also demonstrated how to to begin by starting a painting of some sunflowers. The kitchen at Winding Way provided a cozy space for the lesson and everyone had a good time besides learning something new. Next week students are to bring a simple pencil drawing of a subject of their choosing on their watercolor paper. Holly will help with the drawing and students will learn how to start a painting. Supplies are available at the gallery and students get a discount at Huston Tuttle, Rockland. New students are welcomed and the price will be prorated.
